Took a few pictures while taking out the stereo to put in an uPac-GM29 device to add real iPod functionality to my existing factory stereo. I've been looking all over the internet for days and unable to find anything anywhere.

I knew that it had to be easy but I really didn't want to damage my 2 week old SUV .. lolol

Enjoy :)

zKing, did they really make you remove the entire radio?!?! When I put in my Ipod Integration from Coastal Tech, I just dropped down the glove compartment, install two two minutes, cause I zip tied the cables...

Same with my USASpec. I mounted the control box on top of the heater core with double stick tape and zip tied the wires to the dash support frame then ran the cable so it poke out from under the HVAC controls.

nice, now just turn it into a little write up and throw it in the tech section. You guys need some more write ups in this 07+ section.

I had to take off the stereo bezel and take out the stereo to plug in the cables for the uPac directly into the back of the stereo. Getting at the back of the stereo through the glove box is impossible on my 2009 Yukon. I did however fish the wires that go to the actual uPac controller device and mount that in a small space beside the glove box .. also ran the cable for the iPod into the glove box itself.

Do you have XM?

I have a 2009 Tahoe so same interior as you. My USASpec intercepted the wires at the XM controller which is behind the glove box. No need to get at the back of the stereo. But I think if I didn't have XM then radio removal would be necessary along with an additional adapter cable.

What a pain

Hey I just removed my bezel. Just an FYI, it is very tedious and takes much patience to remove it without scratching everything. One hint, they simply pop out, but you have to give the first one a pretty good pop to get things rolling.

Thanks, man! I plan on installing a Pioneer AVIC u310BT in my Yukon and that helps a bunch. The only problem I see is that I may have to cut that wall behind the radio. Has anyone installed on these type of stereos in their 07+ Yukon/Tahoe?
