So, took first vacation in 5 years with the Family, 1000 miles from home and my 2022 Yukon Denali 6.2 with 27000 on it starts ticking the day after I arrive at my destination. Called local GMC Cadillac dealer, service guys says it sounds like the lifter issue due to afm , they got me in right away, but currently waiting to see what the story is, wife and 3 kids are sitting at the beach and I'm waiting to see if I can even get a loaner or rental. Anybody else run into similar issues while our of town?? Any ideas what gm will do if I have to leave this thing here to be repaired and drive 1000 miles back home?? Glad I paid $82,000 for this POS!! Literally just got it back from dealership at home after they had it for 7 days trying to fix a water leak for the 4th time. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

it can be repaired at ANY gm dealer nationwide, but getting it back home after the repair is on you. meaning you will have to go pick it up be it a week later or a month later
you might get lucky and get it repaired in a couple days, I believe the current procedure is to replace the whole side. provided the parts are in stock.

I know it can be repaired, my issue is having to take time off work and have someone drive me a 1000 miles to pick up the truck, that's the ****** part, and I doubt they'll give me a courtesy car or rental to use for the duration that I'm without the truck.

We were on a cross country RV trip and the dealer had a week to figure out we had the misrouted harness around the alternator before we needed to move on to the next town. They rented us a one way Uhaul to tow our trailer. The cab was too small for two of us and our two dogs, so they flew my wife and our service dog in training to the next town. Once they got it figured out, they shipped our Tahoe out.

They should pay for a rental Tahoe to get the family home and send you your car when it's done.

I still have the valve train issue that the selling dealer should have jumped on, especially after oil consumption testing showing down a quart at each oil change and a TSB highlighting the issue. By the time they get it fixed, I should have lemon law level of days out of service. GM has made it good, but it has been such a PITA, it's gonna be a tough call whether to keep or ask for a buyback and walk away. It's the best truck if you get a good one, but man, sometimes you really gotta work at loving it.

Is under warranty. If was me, I would know right now about a rental, that they cover, or a loaner, or they would have to put up with me. They also would fly me back to pick up. The drive back home was gonna happen anyway. I see on here a few times where this scenario happens and then the member posts about the uncertainty of the loaner, rental and down time. They would hate me enough that they would get me out of there.

So was your Denali actually "dead" as you say, or did it just start ticking? Big difference between the two.

So, let us know how you come out.

Suggestion:
1) Thnank the dealer for getting you in right away (they didn't have to, but they did. And that was nice of them)
2) Ask the Dealer to contact GM about the mechanical breakdown, and ask them to ask GM what GM can do for you (again, not this dealer's fault GM built a bad engine; but by being nice to them, they may be more apt to assist).
3) If the dealer cannot get you square w/ GM, then ask for the GM reginonal service rep's number and give her/him a call. If she/he cannot be reached, call GM roadside or GM Customer service, and convey your story (nicely) and ask for what you would like GM to do: a) get vehicle fixed at this dealer --they are obligated to do this, b) Arrange for a rental or promise to reimburse a rental so you can get your family home, c) ask about the "vehicle reunification program" which I think is what GM has when you have a breakdown tha takes time to fix and you are far from home...I believe they ship it back for you, or fly you baack to get it

Not dead, ticking so loud it was amazing that it wasn't, dealer didn't understand how it wasn't dead, no dash lights, nothing, even mechanic at dealership didn't understand how I made it there, they said normally it shuts the truck right down.
