the higher the K, the less output you will get. I've heard you start to really lose output after 8K, so at 10K, it will be weak. But if you're after the blueish/purple look, you're good.

The bluer it is, the more glare to on-coming traffic as well. There's a great, long scientific explanation for this, but suffice it to say that it is easier on other's eyes (especially older people) if you have the lower Kelvin range. It's also easier on your eyes, especially if you're driving distances at night. That blue range of light looks cool, but it's not normal for our eyes to focus in that spectrum so it can cause eye fatigue.

4300-5000k gives you both the most possible output lumens and it's the easiest on the eyes.

I doubt it. Lots of guys run them that way. I've got 55w in my fogs....lol. They really don't run all that hot compared to halogen bulbs. Also have 55w in my retro'd low beams with no noticeable ill-effects so far to the housing or bowl.

55w 10k will look like 7-8k.. wont be super blue but they'll be blue
they'll still shine more than the halogens you have/had

I agree Scott! 5000K is about the best for nice crisp brightness. "And" the law depending on where you live shouldn't haunt. I got 8000k for free which was nice :) , however the purplish color gives away aftermarket (which the cops around here hate) PS. This pic is of my lows showing the direct beam below the cutoff.

I run 10k 55w HIDs in my high and low beams. They are perfect! I would agree that 10k is a bit too much blue but if you go with 55w a lot of that blue is washed out.
