I've searched through the forum and looked online trying to figure out what is going on with the transmission. When I first start the truck in the morning and go to pull out of the garage the transmission will not engage but slowly slips into drive. There is about a 5 second lag to getting the truck moving. I back the truck into the garage so I don't know if this does it or not in reverse. The other day after work it did it leaving the parking space. The truck only sits for maybe 8-10 hours at work and just overnight in the garage. The Yukon does not do this all the time which is strange. I've read a few of the TSB's but they more or less point to a consistent slippage and not the infrequent type.
I think if I bring the truck in the dealer will give the usual "Nothing wrong all normal" answer. I don't feel like making ten trips to the dealer before they finally experience the issue or the transmission decides to quit working in the middle of a snow storm on our isolated back roads.
Anyone else experience this and did it get repaired.

I have the same problem with my 15 yukon denali. Took it to the dealer and they said since it wasn't over 3 seconds that it was functioning as expected. Good luck with your visit as I see it as a safety hazard as it slowly slips into gear and most folks applying the gas pedal to pull out of parking space, garage, etc..

I had the same issues and they told me that's just how the vehicle operates. It slips so hard sometimes I think someone hit me.

Had to cancel the appointment on the 16th due to work commitments and not being able to get the time off to drop off the truck. I figured I'd use the selling dealer to try and get repairs, must be a common answer the soonest we can get you in is the 30th of January. Tried the dealer about 30 minutes from the house and I'll drop it off next Tuesday. I have about four items to get looked at besides the transmission. It is strange how some days the transmission does not slip and other days it feels like I am lined up doing the quarter mile and hitting a 4 Grand hole shot. You just don't know what to expect when you slip it in gear and hit the gas, good engagement or slip and engage.

Got the truck back from the dealer tonight. Solution to the transmission issue, don't let your transmission fluid get cold because if it does it takes a few seconds for the transmission to engage. I did get the roof rail fixed which was separating from the molding and the transfer case control module reprogrammed. The rear windows sounding like sandpaper rolling up and down, the rattle which happened leaving the dealership and the transmission slips are all presents from GM to keep the customers accustomed to poor quality controls.

THANK YOU GM FOR ANOTHER POS OFF YOUR ASSEMBLY LINES.

There is a TSB which tells them how to hook the vehicle up and test it to see the engagement of the torque converter. Didn't even mention the TSB in the reports. Tired of the same lies from GM. Their goal seems to be one around tiring out the consumer until we just say the hell with it please take our money and give us a mediocre car with known defects. If they drag their feet long enough the warranty is up or the lemon law period is done and they pocket the money which should be used to fix known problems on the vehicles.
I thought I saw an improvement with GM when I bought a Chevy SS, looking back it wasn't an improvement with GM but a better vehicle built by Holden.

2 grand hole shot out of the garage this morning. I need to put the light tree by the door and get my reaction times. There are days it slips into gear and other days you rev and it jumps into gear. Glad I back into the garage in the evenings, I'd hate to do these slip/hole shots in reverse.
