Okay I just joined the forums, recently I got my first SUV, a 1994 Yukon, which one of these days I intend on fixing up and hopefully bringing to show quality with a little help. Now I do know a fair bit about motors etc, though my focus has always been on the smaller vehicles, I've always been a car nut until I got this vehicle, and now I want to learn a little more about it.

Now is my current question, I'm not sure exactly how to describe it or ask it but I'll do my best.

This happens only occasionally and is most often (99% of the time) happens when it has been recently below freezing temperatures. It happens both when I start the engine and when I turn the engine off, from the passenger side of the engine bay, very close to the feet of the passenger, it is clearly heard from the floor on the passenger side. It is a loud, (clicking, ticking) sound, it almost sounds as though someone is hitting one plastic object against another plastic object. I've been very busy between work and college, and haven't had much time to examine it, I was wondering if anyone here would be able to offer ideas as to what it could be, so that I can know what I need to get fixed.

i know exactly what it is, my old truck a 93 yukon had the same problem. it is the air door that either lets in fresh air or recirculates it. turn the key to on pick if u want it to recirculate or not turn then go under the passenger side dash kind of to the left u will see a box underneath it there is a vent with a flap in it there is an actuator on the side of it follow the wires and unplug that harness. the clicking is the shutter door actuator ,u can replace it or just unplug it i unplugged it and i worked fine

Okay thanx I'll give it a try and let you know, for some reason when its warm it doesn't seem to do it, and it hasn't done it in the past little while, I'll try it tomorrow morning and should it make the noise again I'll let you know. Will also post if I have a problem.
