I have a 95 2wd tahoe that originally has 5 lug set up, and i am wanting to know if it is possible to convert or swap out the 5 lugs for 6 lugs?!~

I have not seen a post about it, and i may just be looking in the wrong section.

Truck is stock height at the moment, but i am wanting to lower it a bit after the conversion. I am wanting to put on the 2014 gmc replicas which are 6 lug.

Would i have to do a complete rear axle swap in the rear to get 6 lug, and then just simply buy new rotors that are 6 lug for the front and swap those out>??

Any help would be greatly appreciate!!

Thanks!

unknown at this time.
first why do you need 6 lugs? second you can not just swap rotors. you are talking changing out more parts then that and then trying to make it work properly.

I don't "need" them, I'm just trying to figure out if it's possible to do the swap.
I am wanting to do it because I want to put the 2014 gmc rims on my tahoe and they are 6 lug. I can't really find any good rims that are 5 lug.

Sorry if that seemed ignorant of me to make it seem like I could just swap rotors for the front, I was just relaying something I read elsewhere. No need to be abrubt, after all isn't this forum for questions about modifying our vehicles?

Nonetheless, thanks for your help and reply man.

Hopefully someone with more information will chime in.

For the rear, you would either need new axles with 6 studs, OR you could potentially press out your old studs, weld in the holes, sand and refinish, measure and redrill and press in new studs. I don't know if you could go to a pick a part and grab some axles off a 4wd truck, you'd need to research axle measurements and spline count, but that would be the easiest, and potentially cheapest (unless they force you to buy the whole housing).

For the front, you'd need new hubs. Not sure if they make those for 2wd, but you could potentially press out old studs, weld in the holes, sand and refinish, redrill and press new studs in.

All four corners would need new rotors.

They may make adapters, so search around for your application: like these, but these are for Camaros it looks like.

My $.02, wayyyy more hassle than it's worth for new wheels.

adapters are not an option? You would of course widen your stance with some. Which may or may not be what you want.

@TxTahoe, yeah man after looking into it may just be too much just for some rims.

I'd like to do swap out my rear drums for discs, is that another pain in the ass too?
@TheAutumnWind, I saw the adapters, but I don't want it to widen the stance too much since I will be putting a 4/6 or 5/7 drop on it. Plus adapters make me nervous, I've read alot of bad cases about them.

Ah, yeah. Makes sense. I had similar trouble with my old 5 lug f150.

I did this on an 05 gmc pickup. If you get 3/4 ton light duty 2wd rotors for the front, they should just swap out. Then find a 6 lug rear end from a junk yard. Was very simple. I used a 14 bolt semi floating factory rear when I did mine.
