Hello,

What do you guys think a fair price for a 1995 6.5L Turbo diesel with 172,000 mi, an ex fire rig, clean body and interior, motor is locked would be? Supposedly has new heads, the guy selling thinks it is probably a froze piston, basically it is an unfinished project.

Thank You,

I believe so, the truck is missing the left mirror and the hood looks misaligned but other than that it does look pretty clean. The guy is asking $2,500.

With it being non running i could get it max of $600. But for you about 1500 is reasonable. 2500 is too much

If the fire department that owned that treated it like the FD around here does, it's been beat to within an inch of its life, then put away wet, to be pulled out later and some work done on it. The only FD truck that doesn't see an incredibly hard life is the Fire Chiefs truck.

$600 is reasonable with a bad motor and missing parts, $1000 at most. If it has a froze piston or otherwise siezed engine, you'll likely need a new long block, and they can run a pretty penny.

Agreed, $2500 is way too much. $1000 would be top paying price if it's in nice condition otherwise. The FD rigs are usually stripped down versions with few options. Repairing a 6.5L can be pricey if you don't know what you're doing.

I paid $4900 for my pristine LT rig with leather and all options 7 years ago! That should give you some idea of value....

Casey

PS... I paid $500 for a 97 C3500 work truck that had 100K miles on the 6.5L that had lost compression on one cylinder, but was still running and driving.
