Ok I inherited a 1997 gmc yukon 4x4 and i drove it for around 8 months and it was always long drives 1hr + each way to work if not longer
Since I got it it would vibrate from time to time and stop when I would either let off the gas a little or press gas a little more
It never seemed to get worse
Well about 7-8 months ago I was driving down the interstate and noticed smoke coming from behind me.... lots of smoke. The transmission was leaking on the exhaust cross pipe
I was told by a few people that it sounded like the torque convertor was going bad and the vibration wore the front seal
Does this sound correct? Its been sitting for a while now because I didnt have the time to mess with it. I want to start fixing it now that I have a little time off work and I cant afford a shop to fix it. I have dropped a transmission in a 1990 4x4 toyota pickup before to change clutch before and I have a heavy duty lowpro trans jack...
If it sound like the converter and front seal needs to be replaced can I drop the trans and transfer case as one or do I need to separate. Just looking for the easiest way to fix it. Never really messed with an automatic transmission before
Thanks in advance
