I have a 1997 Tahoe LT 5.7 Liter 4 Door 4x4.
I have been working on replacing the HVAC control panel because the blower blows hot and cold air randomly. I thought is was the control panel, so I purchased another one, and was in the midst of installing the new one. With the new control panel, the fan speed adjustment knob was already on the new controller so all I had to do was unplug the wiring harness from the old fan speed adjustment knob and plug into the new one. When I unplugged the wiring harness, I realized it was burnt and was festering to become a major problem. This is extremely dangerous because this could erupt into a fire that could become catastrophic. I am sure this has already happen somewhere, so GM may be aware of this issue. I need to replace this plug piece, so I know I will have to do some wiring splicing. Does anyone know where I can get one of these plug pieces? Please see the attached picture. I have gone to a pick-your-part place which had a Tahoe/Suburban 95-99, they removed this piece and noticed it was burnt as well. This seems to be a common problem. I would also be interested if anyone has developed a solution for this as well.actahoeissue.JPG
