1999 tahoe w 246 tranfer case rattle

hi there I am having a rattle noise out of the back end of transfer case and it sounds like a marble flopping around as it spins I had it out and spun input shaft by hand thought maybe cause there wasn't oil in it but it does the same installed rolling forward or reverse and I used the blue autotrac fluid any ideas? thanks

Sounds like a Stretched chain or the case is wearing. Both cases it needs a rebuild , The Case wear issue is common . How did the old fluid look? Transfercaseexpress.com sells remained updated Tcases for a pretty good price . the only thing they don't include is the encoder motor.
