I changed the oil in my '17 Yukon myself at about 2,900 miles as I wanted to get in some M1 0w-20 Annual Protection and a M1 EP filter. M1 has some great rebates right now and I wanted the best protection I could get for my 6.2L since iIm not entirely thrilled of the 0w-20 requirement by GM. (Corvette is going from 5w-30 to 0w-40 on the same motor.)
My folks used to have a '97 Tahoe LT 4x4 Z71 and I remember the oil filter was right above the front drive shaft and used to leak oil all down onto it, it was a mess. My new Yukon was a piece of cake, easy as pie to change oil and the filter. I have a set of Race Ramps and I just drive the Yukon up on it since the GM running boards prohibit me from sliding under from the side. Still, all in all, don't be intimidated with changing oil in a late model Tahoe or Yukon, the dealer can keep their cheap oil/filter and I will rest easy knowing it's done right, and filled correctly.
