Hey gang. I purchased this 2006 Yukon Denali XL back in August. Bought from a friend who always maintains his equipment. It has about 109K miles on it and is in fantastic condition.

Two days ago, a guy on a hog rolled up next to me to tell me that my two lower brake lights were out. The cyclops was still working, but the other two were muerto.

I checked the fuse box on the driver's side, as well as the one under the hood. The only issue I could find was the cigarette lighter's fuse was blown (must have been that nickel I pulled out).

I haven't had a chance to check the bulbs, but it seems odd that they would both go at the same time.

Any clues as to what it might be?

Thanks, in advance, for any input!

Suggestion: bulbs are easy to change, try them first

Hey Nick,

It's also possible that you had one out and then the other went out before anyone noticed. Since it's easy to change the bulbs, (IMHO) try them to rule them out.

when my brake light switch went out it was all 3 lights that wouldn't work. It never hurts to check it out, however I would definitely check the bulbs first as they are easier.

Thanks.....But.....How do I check it? Is "check" another word for replace? :-D

Based on a lot of the other posts regarding the brake lights, it sounds as though it's going to happen eventually, so I might as well go buy one and replace it, after I check the bulbs.

I appreciate the fast reply!!

Once you remove it, you can open it up and look at the contacts, mine were melted and not making a good connection. It's like $25 at autozone

3 Outta 3 Now!

Just want to say "Thanks!" to everyone who replied to my predicament!

It ended up being the bulbs! an easy $10 fix during halftime of the Dolphins/Pats game. Didn't miss a single down!
