Hello everyone any odeas of what could this be. My 2000 gmc yukon xl 4wd is not shifting when in third gear. When i drive on D and go up to 20 mph rpm goes up but it doesnt shift i let the gas pedal go and it makes the shifting and starts driving well but again when going up to 50 mph my truck seems to slow down. Also, if i drive it like if it was a standard set it up in 1 then 2 it drives fine but when i put i on 3rd it doesnt take it and it starts to slow down. I dont have a check engine light on so i dont know what could it be it seems like that third gear turn bad can some one help me if anybody got the same problem please share any idead or opinions are welcome

You need to rebuild your tranny. I don't know the specific names, but basically your 3rd gear clutch isn't engaging. It's a normal tranny problem and they sell a rebuild kit for this. The kit isn't real expensive, but the time to pull your tranny, do the work, and put it back in is what's going to cost you.

That is the problem. Happened to me in my 04 Esky. My father is also a mechanic and I've seen this same problem before. You can also search this forum and find out a lot of other people have this problem as it's a common problem with an old/used tranny

look up ‎4L60E transmission rebuild kit. Unless you are a mechanic I definitely don't recommend doing it yourself. It will cost more for someone to fix your mistakes instead of taking it somewhere to being with.

You need something like this...

http://www.amazon.com/4L60-E-Master-Overhaul-Rebuild-Frictions/dp/B0081H79OY

HOWEVER...

I recommend buying it from the transmission shop you get the work done at. If you don't, they will not provide warranty for the parts, only for the labor.
