Hi, just bought a 2000 Tahoe. With the engine off and no key in the ignition, there is a clicking sound in my pedal area up and to the left. IT stops clicking when I start the engine. I can see the box its coming from but have no idea what it is. Clicks about every second. Any ideas on what this is?? Its the black box mounted underneath with the yellow arrow pointed at it.

It's called a MBEC - Mid Bussed Electrical Center. Unscrew the plastic nut or just pull it off -- the nut threads aren't machined. Then you can pull the cover off to see the relays and connections.

Also known as a Body Wiring Harness Junction.

Thanks for the info. Next time it keeps clicking, I will pull it off then. The last time it did this, I popped the top off the electrical fuse panel in the engine compartment and heard it there as well. I put my fingers on all the relays and isolated the click to what the manual calls the Headlight Relay. (Also dont get the "chime" if I accidentally leave them on and exit the vehicle) The truck has Auto Start but I dont regularly use it yet. Previous owner said the Horn was disabled as well...which I dont care for. I wonder if its the Headlight Relay, Parking Light Relay, Horn Relay or a Relay From Another Dimension brought to Planet Earth to test my patience...?

Oooof...I dont know...Im a novice with that stuff. I havent had either before. I know if I hit the star on my key fob twice it will fire up and if I want it to shut off I apply the brake without the key in the ignition.

Remote start. Auto start/stop is on the newer ones that kills the engine at stoplights.
