Recently my heat will only get hot while driving. When the truck is at idle the air gets cold. It is not as cold as if I turned the temperature all the way to blue though. I have read that this could be a low coolant issue. That is not the case with me as my coolant level is fine and not dirty at all. The blend door actuator also works fine. Could it be possible that the water pump isn't flowing enough at idle speeds? Also, could someone shed some light on what the heater core bypass valve actually does and when it is supposed to function. Thanks.

I bypassed the heater core once because I had a leak in it and did it temporarily to get the car home. It's simple just get a hose that will connect the two hoses going to the heater core together. I used that and two clamps tight as hell. The only thing is that you wont have heater.

I kinda had a similiar problem. My heat would be very weak (warm air). I drained the heater and reversed the flow to blow out the crud. Now the heat works fine. My only question is what about the blower motor? Does it work in all settings?

Everything functions as it should with the exception of the actual air temperature when idle. Did you use water or air to clean out your heater core?

I used water from a garden hose. I disconnected the heater hoses at the water pump. I ran the water threw until it came out clear. The first stuff to come out was cloudy brown. Reconnected the hoses and fill with dex-cool.

I assume you ran the water in the opposite direction from normal flow?
