I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe LT 5.3. I'm having some issues with my heater. About a month ago, my heater started blowing cooler air(no heat). So I replaced my thermostat. I drained the radiator at the lower plug and put the new thermostat on. Then refilled at the bottle and ran the vehicle to cycle it in. My heat returned but I still think it could have been hotter. So now a few weeks later and -10 degrees out, I no longer have heat.

I've been thinking maybe my heater core needs flushed? I've also been reading something about a temperature module or some flapper door thing under the dash that could create a problem with having heat. My engine temperature is just a little under 210 on the gauge. My two heater hoses under the hood are hot once vehicle is warmed up. The one gets very hot and the other just slightly warmer.

Another issue I'd like to get straightened out and has been like this since I've had it, the air doesn't seem to come out full force on all the vents. Air will blow out ******* the one to the right of the radio but all the other ones it is very light. Then when I have it on the defroster(top of the dash) The air will only blow out ******* the center vent and nearly nothing on the vents on the driver/pass side. And to get any meaningful air to come out you have to have it full blast. If you turn it one click down from the higest setting the air barely comes out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The module referred to is probably the blend door actuator/motor.

The lack of air flow could be a clogged cabin filter. I think they are in 2000 - 2002 models. You need to remove the long beauty panel that runs under the radio to the passenger door.

With that gone you can see the plastic duct work. Under the glove box there will be a narrow access panel on the duct held on with a screw or two. The filters (2) are in that slot.

When you pull the filters you may be able reach in and feel if the heater core is working.

Still having these issues with the heat. My rear air will work intermittently. I can get nice hot air to flow out vents in ceiling(rear air). Then sudddenly it will just blow cooler air like outside temperature. The front air through vents or defrost never gets hot. What the heck is going on with this. Can anyone chime in. Starting to get cold out again and I don't want to rely on heated seats.
