cam kit, headers with y-pipe, and tune for 100 hp, so why is the punch with cam so ridiculous?

yea, near a 1000$ for a cam swap is a waste of time, you can pickup a junkyard 6.0 for half of that price. Im really doubting this article. Thats a good size cam for a 5.3 and at 220 duration on it, I really would not go that big for a tahoe or suburban, as you need lowend tq down low, and thats simply not the right cam, it makes its power above 4500 where you will rarely be.

You also did not mention in your original post that he had a full exhaust, headers and wye. Which is the biggest restriction on these trucks. These trucks are detuned like crazy too. Personally after reading that article, the most of his gains are attribute to the tune.
