Hey fellas, having a very intermittent starting issue with my 2000 Tahoe. I've had this issue for over a year but it's so intermittent that I've always had issues diagnosing it.

I finally was able to hook up a fuel pressure tester while that car was having the starting issues. I've noticed that the problem seems to occur most when the truck has been sitting outside for a couple days and it's been rained on.

Here is a video of the truck having starting issues. The truck seems to fire up fine and then will die right away. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated. If you need any additional information please let me know what you need.

I was having same problem with my 2000 Tahoe Limited and did a major tune up and was all good. I think it was the ignition coil and modular. I also changed out the crank sensor as well. If your over 100K it may need changing out anyway.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I had previously replaced the sparks, wires, distributor cap and rotor about 2+ years ago which was probably 22k miles ago.

The other day I couldn't get the truck to start properly at all. Tried for a long time and held good fuel pressure. That's when I popped the hood and went into the engine.

I removed the distributor cap. It looked like there was maybe a little bit of corrosion on the metal heads. I took my Dremel and cleaned each of the metal heads. I also did this to the distributor rotor so the metal was nice and shiny.

The truck started first time and hasn't died yet. It's only been a couple days but the truck has started strong ever since.

I'll keep this updated with any new news

I know that blazers and s10 were notorious to have this issue. It was a cracked distributor cap on the back side from over tightening the screw. when it rained moisture would get in and it wouldn't start. I see u say you cleaned it and it works fine now. When you get a chance try to pull the cap and inspect for cracks.

And if there whether there is a crack or not, spray a little WD40 in there.. The stuff absorbs moisture, believe it or not.

Yea these old distributor systems from GM are known for this. Even quality GM parts wouldn't solve problems for long. I had the same issue if I went to the car wash. I had to go to the self serve ones because I could stay away from the hood.
