ok, i just acquired an 2000 gmc yukon 2500 xl, it's loaded, but has a few issues, hoping you all can help me out......

right now the major issue is, i think it has a tranny problem, it high revs after the 2nd shift? it's got a leak, but, wondering does it need a new tranny or can i just remove the pan, replace the seal, filter and fluid, and hope for the best?? i've been quoted, 650+350 install.....

it also has, brake and suspension issues......

anyways, i'm new, don't beat me up too bad, and thanks for the help in advance!!

btw, i'm in california...

How does your ATF look? smell? is it a bright red or does it look, brownish?

When you say the engine revs after the 1-2 shift, can you describe it any better? if your foot is to the floor and it shifts in to 2nd, do the revs come down and then go back up or do the revs continue to climb after it has gone into 2nd? Try putting the trans in second gear and taking off from a stop light driving normal. Do the rpm's climb without much movement of the truck? I know it will feel like a slug coming off the line in 2nd But I'm trying to get a better picture of what is going on with your trans.
Brake and suspension issues are all minor, it just takes time and money. Are you able to do any of the work yourself or are you not interested in getting your hands dirty?

The $650 you were quoted, what was that for? you can get a good filter kit with a new gasket for the pan for under $30 then 6-8 qts of ATF. Or is it another seal leaking?

unknown at this time.
Gears 1-2 shift? or 2nd shift as in the it just shifted a second time say from gears 2-3? Must know the exact location of the leak and is that the only two issues with the tranny.

Make a separate thread for each vehicle sub-section as it applies to your problems. This will ensure better responses with out us overstepping the conversations on other issues.
