Not owing the possible conflicts, I purchased a 2009 5.7 Vortec to replace my 2000 5.7 Vortex. It appears to me after researching the issue àfter the fact that this isn't going to be a plug and play swap. Could someone please tell me what I'm going to need to do to make this work? Thank you for any and all help.

Ok. Please accept my apologies for things I've got wrong or misunderstood. That's why I'm hear... To educate myself and others(by showing what NOT to do). I will do my best to correct my mistake with some guidance.

That being said......

The engine I purchased was represented as a 5.7 Vortex. The motor currently in my 2000 Yukon Denali is a stock 5.7 Vortec which is original to the vehicle.
The new engine has a stamp on the block of 14093688. My uneducated interpretation of that was a date of manufacture of January 4, 2009. Am I wrong on that?
I'll be going to work on it this evening and if there are stamps or codes I should post, please lmk where they should be and I will post photos what is needed for people to help me out.
Thanks again to everyone willing to help me and I apologize for my ignorance on the topic but I'm working towards gaining knowledge and learning what I can.

87-95 5.7 that could be a 2 or 4 bolt main. That is the info I found with that 14093688 number.

First off, there is no such thing as a "vortex" engine. The term is "vortec" and none other. When they represented the info, did the seller say what year the engine came out of?

Sounds like it COULD work but maybe not. 1995 was the last year of the TBI GM engine, IIRC. 1996 was the first year for a VORTEC MPFI engine. I am assuming your fuel injection, on your 2000 Denali, is the problem prone spider injection design. There is an update kit for that spider injector problem...217-3029.

For starters, post up a few pics of the engine itself. More than a few members will at least be able to give you an idea about which engine it might be.

There SHOULD be a stamped suffix number on the front of the block that will give better info than just the casting number.1000014488.jpg
