I've got a 2000 Yukon 1500 XL with a 5.3 LM7 engine. It has 245,00 miles. It looks like it just threw a rod. Summit wants $4270 + $2500 core for a GMPP reman. LKQ's best engine has 144,00 miles for $635. Engines Direct in AZ wants $1900 plus $300 core for a reman. Does anyone have any experience with Engines Direct?

How long do you plan on keeping the truck for? I would just buy used if you don't see your self in it for another 2-3 years .

I went to edmunds.com, put in for a yukon XL with all options, your miles, clean condition, and DEALER retail is $4500. May be time to get a new (used) ride. Unless you use yourself as labor and get a smoking deal, something to comtemplate. Sorry bro...

IMO, no sense in spending that much money on a truck that old. I'd see if you could sell it on craigslist or to the local auction house maybe, and go get something with fewer miles.

sell your shortblock for $100-150. buy a good running SB for $5-600. get a good quality valve job/rebuild on your current heads along with a fresh set of springs and be done with it.

These engines are stupid cheap. Go with LKQ. $1900 those people are nuts. I'd never pay over $800 for a 5.3.

Just go with a junk yard engine.
Just installed one in my 2002 which I paid $500.
60K Motor.
I did the install myself but was quoted a price of $800 to install.
