2001 Tahoe..Engine Stays On

Hi. 01 5.3 Tahoe here. Engine currently will not turn off when key is pulled from ignition in the off position. We've put a lot of Ben's into this thing. Should I start by having the key rekeyed or ignition switch? Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

How are you killing the motor now? It sounds like your ignition switch is not working properly. That would be the first thing I would look at.

I would see if you can confirm whether or not the ignition switch is staying made when the key is turned to off.

Also make sure your lock cylinder isn't worn down either.

What Wade said. The whole idea of the key turning is so that your move linkage to push pull the ignition switch to a start/run/shut off positing. If you put Ben's into this at least share what you have done.
