I've got a 2001 Tahoe and the traction off light is constantly on. Any ideas what is keeping the light on? It doesn't change whether I push the traction assist button or not.

best thing to do would be to have it scanned with a tech2, if your lucky the dealer may pull the code for you at no charge, sometimes they are nice like that because of course they want your money but you can always say I just want to know what it is so I can prepare to get it fixed when I can afford it.

The one thing you could try without a tech 2 is disconnecting the button and seeing if it is functional. It's a momentary switch. Are you seeing any messages on the DIC?

Sorry about that and many thanks for the reply. I didn't see your message I was on my phone and not wearing my readers thought it was my own message. If I disconnect the button, are you suggesting that the light may go out, or some other effects as well?

It's not likely, but it may. You could touch the wires together for a second and let them go and see if it changes, and also put a tester on the switch. When you push it briefly, it sends a signal to the computer to turn the TC off. If you hold it for a while, it turns off the full stabilitrac system. Corresponding messages should appear on the DIC. Something like "stability system disabled"

My system looks a bit different behind the button. I've got this connection behind the module:

There are 7 pins inside the connection:

just looks like the button isn't connected to anything just a depresses the copper contact on the side of module. The light stays on when I manually depress the contact. The DIC (Message Center) dosen't have any messages. Any idea on how to test it or create a loop-back on connector harness to simulate the button on/off?
