2001 yukon denali 6.0 oil in cylinder 1 and 3

Here you see, as an example a valve, from my Escalade where oil comes down from the valve stem seals...

I change the valve stem seals as well..

If you know what you do, then you need approximate 3 hours for both sides... If you do it the first time it will take a little longer...

I am planing on taking my gmc to someone that will test it and find out more. Thank you everyone for you input. Money is tight for me right now so it has taken awhile to be able to put some money into getting my gmc back.

I’m not a mechanic & haven’t done any major engine work in 50 years but did hundreds of valve grinding jobs on heads off the engines in my dad’s business. I’m curious how people replace the valve seals w/o removing the heads and keeping the valve from dropping into the cylinder. I see a tool used in your pic, unlike the C clamp of my past. I’ve heard of some putting rope or compressed air in the cylinder. Is that how it’s done?

Yes, you remove the rocker arms, then the valves are closed.

Then you give air pressure with an adapter, which you can screw into the spark plug hole in the cylinder. That prevents the valves from falling into the cylinder.

Then you use the tool you see, to compress the valve spring and remover the retainers. Then you remove the spring assembly.

Then you remove the stem seal and mount a new one.

Than reassemble everything.

Then next valve..

And so on..
