Just recently purchased an 06 Tahoe Z71, and I noticed the rear button on the back to open the rear widow does not have a key entry on it like the earlier models do. On my 2001 Yukon on the button below the window you have to insert a key (which now is messed up and you can use a anything to unlock the rear hatch or window) I was curious is there any replacement I can buy that doesn't require a key in the rear hatch? Just a button like my newer z71?? If so could any of you guide me in the right direction? Thanks.. Also a quick minor question, what is the handle bar on the dashboard/passenger side called? Right above where the airbag is? I need to replace that as well as I was drunk and took a bite out of it:emotions122:.. Thanks guys

Did it at least taste good?

Always thought my truck had the keyhole, but just checked and it really doesn't. I am sure you can convert it in someway but idk if anyone has ever done it..

I have looked and looked, just hoping someone here may know about it first before i just buy an 06 actuator.. I was locked out one day, and i took a flathead and opened her right up from the back (sounds crazy)... Ever since then its been ruined and Ive wanted to replace it with one without a key ...

Hope someone can answer to this for me soon.. :)

Usually this means nobody has tried this. You may have to try it first and let everyone know how it works.

Personally, I don't see why you couldn't switch out the buttons.

My friend has a 2007 Trailblazer SS. I don't think it has a key slot in that button.

You could find one at wrecker or something?

My 04 doesn't have a keyhole and he said his 06 doesn't.

I not see why it wouldn't work. See if you dealer has one in stock and go there with the inner panel off and compare it before you buy it. Or just compare the 2 trucks you already own.

If you swap it for the one without the keyhole make sure you remove the old lock rod so it's not rattling around.
