2002 redo moving along

Ok, now I am ready for some new lighting all around. I am assuming the LED lights are the way to go and I like the look of the "blacked out" assemblies. Is it going to be as easy as plug and play or will I open up a can of worms doing this? I did some research already and even found some nice rear taillight assemblies for my barn door rig.

I like the looks of the ANZO brand. Here is what I found at Amazon:

Tail lights #311155

3rd Brake Light #531086

Front bumper mount lights #511055

Thoughts? Recommendations? I am open to it all but I also don't want to rebuild my exterior light wiring to mount all this. Thanks in advance.

You will likely have to use resistors for led brake and turn signals. Otherwise signals will hyperflash, and cruise control won't work when the headlights are on (trust me, this gets annoying). The vehicle senses a bulb is out by a change in the resistance, most LED bulbs do not work with this and make the vehicle think they are burnt out all the time.

Iirc, I think it was on @05Single's build page, someone was talking about removing a leg on the stock flasher--instead of buying an LED compatible flasher like a Novita--to work with LED bulbs. Hopefully someone else will remember.

Splincing in a resistor at the bulb os cheap and takes less than a minute. That's the route I'd reccomend. Plenty of led bulb correction power resistors on the market. Even autozone has them (but expensive)

this is what i used on my 01, this work for 99-02. got mine from autozone, just replace the flasher and your done no hyper flasher.

With that flasher would the cruise control work with the lights on as I was warned about by lkrasner.

Probably not. The Cruise problem is with the brake lights, and for some reason only happens when the tail lights are also on (i.e. Headlights on).

If I remember right, it basically thinks your brakes are on when the tail lights are on due to lower resistance and doesn't let cruise control engage. Took me forever to figure it out after I swapped to led bulbs. Got them in and was on a long drive, cruise kicked off when it got dark and lights came on... Absolutely baffled me till I thought about the LED thing.

Thankfully I am not a big, if ever, cruise control user. It really would not affect me at all. Did you use the mentioned flasher? It sounds like, from what has been posted here that if I use the mentioned flasher and bolt in the LED lights that all will work fine and the only thing affected is my cruise control with the lights on. Does that sound correct to all of you?


The other question is, is there another brand recommended here and a vendor to work with?

i never heard of that, then again i don't use cruise control unless we go out of town. so i cant answer that question. i'll give it a shot, so you say the cc won't work if the lights are on, are you referring to driving in the night that cc won't work.
