2002 Suburban LT, 8.1 w/Allison

I give up on my tahoe, I just test drove a 02 Burb LT with the 8.1 and allison trans, runs great, has sunroof, fully loaded, good tires, new paint job. Only problem it has 308k miles on it, the guy wants 4500.00 for it, It has plenty of power, oil pressure was perfect, trans shifted great. how many miles can you get out of these motors?

I wish i knew but it's sweet looking ride. I do know they are really really hard to find. and $4500 is not a bad price. I am with you the milliage is high but in these trucks it don't both me at all. let me know how you make out. what's going on with your taho you want to sell it ??

I took the tahoe to wv friday pulling my 6x12 enclosed trailer, tahoe did not like the mountains! I ended up bending a pushrod when it kepted kicking in the passing gear trying to climb the mountains, it will be fixed this week, mechanic said he can fix it in 30 minutes. I would take 4800.00, Has a rebuilt engine, new tranny, projectors, hids, train horns, tires are less than three months old, HD hood with SS bumper cover, the list goes on.

I also have a complete 2/4 lowering kit with it, including shocks.

was the stock tranny swapped out for an allison becuase the allison tranny was never offered on a suburban ever

Here is a 8.1/allison for sale. I will get the RPO code from the dealership that has it, I also got to talk to the original owner, he also said it was a allison tranny, he said its very rare in the suburban but some were made.

that came out of a truck the allison was never available in a 2500 suburban or yukon xl it was a 4l80e

I'm not so sure about this. My boss purchased a new 8.1L 2500 Burb in '01 and was told he couldn't get the Allison trans unless he purchased a pick-up.

I called a buddy last night and he said the allison tranny was only offered in the diesel trucks. Maybe run the vin and climb under it. but I think you have the 4L80.
