I know this is an emission code. I am asking if there a typical part with in the fuel system that usually goes out either due to wear and tear or rust?
2002 yukon code 0440.

The most common and easiest fix is the fuel cap. If that fixes it, great. If not, the rest of the entire system needs inspected/diagnosed. It is an all encompassing code for the whole system having a fault.

This must be the weekend for Evap codes to surface!!!
In case you missed one of my recent experiences...
I frequently had the same code for Large Evap leak and the message to tighten gas cap.
They kept coming in and I ignored them for a while.
PO had already replaced the gas cap.
Then, months later... I got P0440 and P0449 (High Purge Flow) at the same time.
Tested and found the Purge Valve was not responding and appeared to be sticking and (finally stuck) open, allowing air to flow through like nothing was there.
Replace the purge valve and the Large Evap leak codes never returned and the tighten gas cap messages in the DIC never returned.
I got a P0440 Small Evap Leak this morning. But that is probably something else to chase when I feel like getting to that issue.
