With the correct pigtail for the wiring, can a 2003-up radio with RDS be used in a 2001. Anyone try this? My OEM radio now says ERR and from what I have read that means take it out and fill it with bullets.

No, the 2003 Radio's will only work with an 03+ BCM that is matched by the appropriate VIN.

I wanted to do the DD swap but not interested in chopping up the dash or swapping bezel/console just to do it

swapping bezel/console to do it is easy and opens your options up 10,000 times more.

Do it! :waytogo:

I need to find a parts truck with beige interior. I have read the threads that say the 03+ bezel will overlap the power outlets so the front console is needed. With 227xxx on the clock im not sure if i want to go this route. I do however want to add a amp and 2-10" sub box to the factory setup. I have an audio background and allready have a line out converter. What have you guys used for the amp -turn on lead (blue). Im kicking myself for selling a Kenwood DD nav unit

Your remote can go to the switched ACC power wire in the factory radio harness, should be a brown wire but you should also check and make sure I'm correct with a multimeter. rear speaker leads are lt blue (-), blue (+) and yellow (-), brown (+). On another note, why not buy a $50 aftermarket unit that will be 1000 times better than a factory deck.

Its the wifes truck and she needs the cd.... stat. But i am debating on a new Head unit just to simplify things on my end. Since its her toy, She gets to decide that, being the OE is easier to use. My toy is in the garage.
