Hi all,

I have a non Bose 2003 Tahoe. Seems getting mixed results if the rear is a 5.25 or 6.5.

really want to run Morel Maximo 6.5 but crutchfield says they won’t fit and to run the 5.25 due to factory cutout.

They should be 6.5s and if there not you should have enough room behind the speaker cover you could cut it out to fit
A lot of times you can pop that cover off without taking off the door panel if you want to measure it to see how much room you have.
I don’t think my buddy built his rear doors yet but he has 4 in the door and 2 tweeters in the dash IMG_4413.jpeg

On the 2003 Tahoe's and Yukons, the rear door speakers are indeed 5.25 inch speakers. But they are mounted on a plastic plate. The plastic plate it riveted to the door which actually has a 6.5 inch opening. A direct replacement speaker would be a 5.25", but if you removed that entire assembly, you can actually fit a 6.5" speaker in the rear door.

Perfect, yea I can mount directly to door.

I assumed crutchfield wouldn’t want to say yes if it took loosing the mounting plate as most wouldn’t like that. I think I’ll order the morels then, worse case I’m out $12 bucks for a spacer or return shipping lol.
