Hey Guys,

Okay I am going to jump right in. Crutchfield told me that I have to remove the center brace shown here in order to install a radio. They said to hack saw it out. Is there a kinder more gentle way of doing this? Or should I cut away? I know you guys are the pros so I thought I would ask.

I think it depends on how big your head unit is, maybe test fit it first, then see from there.

I will do this for sure. I am just wondering the best way to remove it if need be?

I've heard drill out that rivet so that you can remove the bucket so you have more room, then use an angle grinder or sawsall or something of the like to cut the support. I don't have any personal experience as of yet, however.

Test fit your HU and if you need to remove it, I believe I just broke that plastic at the bottom and then bent the metal until it broke. It's hard to get a saw in there.

You might be able to just push it back after breaking the plastic, I can't remember what I did but it seems it wasn't too hard.

I would rather do this can try and cut it out. At least this way I can bend it back. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hey Guys,

I did not have to cut that support!!! I just had to cut out the bottom part of the plastic and it slid right in. I did not think about it but I forgot to get a microbypass for the parking brake. Oh well, I ordered one from Amazon, soon it will be done.
