I've developed a bad clanking sound that only happens when accelerating. Doesn't happen in reverse or if i feather the gas pedal. And it goes away at speed when i coast. Thought it was a bad cv joint. One was bad so i replaced it but the sound is still there. The other one seems to be fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like a broken starter return spring.
Find an empty parking lot, speed up to 10mph in reverse and slam on the brakes. So when in reverse if it makes the sound when you hit the brakes rather than accelerating, replace the starter.

Thanks man. I did that. Got a new starter and I'm gonna take the old one off tomorrow and have it tested. I just hope it's not the transfer case. Replaced it last year. ✌
