I am new to this forum. Forgive me if this question has already been asked. I just bought a 2005 Yukon SLT with the BOSE Cassette/CD stereo. Does anyone know if it will read MP3 files burned onto a CD? I am guessing not but wanted to ask. I do not pick up the truck until Monday. Kind regards, Dan

Welcome Dan. I think it will play them. I believe the music I burn is mp3 also and did play on mine when I had my stock stereo.

It will play mp3 Audio CD's but not mp3 Data CD's

So you cant simply burn the mp3 files to the disc and play it you need to burn it as audio

But it is when you burn it as mp3 data that you get more on the disc right? mp3 just holds around the same as a wave file?
The audio data contained in an MP3 file is compressed, which is why an MP3 file of any given time length will be smaller in size than a WAV file of similar time length.

As far as whether the stock 2005 Bose radio can play MP3s--unless there is some secret trick that is required in order to get that radio to read and play MP3s...I can assure you that it cannot play MP3 music files. The comment about it being able to play "MP3 Audio CDs" but not "MP3 Data CDs" simply meant that the MP3 files were burnt to a CD in "Audio CD" format--in other words, the resulting CD is no different from an audio CD that you'd buy at Best Buy. IOW--the radio isn't really playing MP3 Audio CD but rather, a regular Audio CD where the music content that was burned to it was taken from MP3 files; that Bose radio would have no clue that the music on such a CD was burned from MP3 files.
