I’m in need of some expert advice…

I have a 2005 GMC Yukon SLT 4WD with all the goodies. I purchased it back in August 2009 with ~30K miles. It was a certified used car and was in great shape.

However, soon after I took it home, I started to notice a noise when I was traveling between 35-45 mph. For a lack of a better term, it sounds like a “diesel” engine type noise…on low volume. This noise seems to only occur when I’m traveling between 35-45 mph and only when I have very little pressure on the accelerator. If I press harder on the gas, the noise disappears. The same thing happens if I let off the gas. The noise usually comes and goes pretty quick, as I can’t get it to last longer than say a few seconds.

I’m going to take it into the shop, but I wanted to be prepared. Has anyone else experienced this type of noise before, and if so, what was it?

Thanks for the help!!!

Yes...still under warranty.

I've got about 1500 miles left of the 12month/12,000 bumper to bumper deal. The powertrain goes for 5 years/100,000 miles. That starts from initial delievery...which was July 2005. So, I'm covered until this July on the powertrain.

I was just hoping someone else had noticed a similar noise when they were under (ever so) slight acceleration...while traveling between 35-45 mph.

I've got it in my denali but it stays there. Like a scraping noise. Let me know what the shop tells you. It has me stumped.

Looking through the net I keep getting the answers of 1. Front diff Carrier bearings. 2. HUB. 3. Front diff needs rebuilt. I dropped my front diff oil and there was some shavings and a few slivers in it but nothing that was glaringly unusual for a vehicle with 115k miles. Putting it in the shope next weekend to have it looked at.

Yea mine doesn't vary with speed or rpm. It's just there on the gas and gone when I'm off.
