So I have a 2006 GMC Yukon that has been having an intermittent issue with the lights coming on for Stabilitrak, ABS and Traction Control at the same time while driving. I have a scan tool that can read ABS, and it says there is an issue with the front right speed sensor circuit. I then replaced the front right wheel bearing hub that included a new speed sensor. This did not fix it. I then figured there had to be a broken wire so I replaced both wires to the drivers side where it joins the rest of the main harness. Still not fixed. Last thing I checked was the ABS Control Module (think that's what its called) at the wiring and did not find any corrosion. In fact it looked in ridiculously good condition considering the vehicles age.

Simply put I'm at a stand still. Not sure how to do any more testing to see where the problem is. I do have a multi-meter if that is where I need to go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Just out of ideas at this point. Thanks!

Does it do this in 2wd and 4wd or auto? Check your ground cables all around. It’s amazing what they can do. What is the code you’re getting?

Steve, welcome to the forum from Oregon.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

Welcome to the forum from Iowa.

After you swapped out the hub and the wiring are you still getting the same wheel location as the error?

Might try and check the voltage coming out of the sensor with your multi-meter to see if you get any variation when you turn that wheel? I would check both sides to see if they are both working.

Post update, I found the issue. Turned out to be the right front oem abs sensor wire harness connector. I had rigged up a wiring harness to make it so the wiring was switched right for left, left for right and then the issue stayed with what the computer thought was the right side (actually left). I replaced the oem connector and the problem has gone away. Just wanted it to be out there that even the connectors that appear perfectly fine may have failed on the vehicle side. Thanks for the help!

Steve this is late March 2021.
But for anyone having the same issue this might help. I replaced the right front wheel bearing on he 2004 GMC Denali and when turned it back on I had lights showing ABS, Traction Control, Stability service and Code P0856.
After reading so many articles I was ready to give up. Turns out the issue was the positive battery terminal was loaded with corrosion. Cleaned it up and purchased a new battery bolt that had a spacer on it for for better surface contact to the battery.
Turned the key on and all the trouble lights disappeared.
Hope this helps someone
