A few days ago, the rear end started making a clunking noise. I'm at the beach with my family so I'm trying to doctor this so I can make it home to a loyal garage. I took off the diff cover and found black oil and chips of metal. Continued to find out that there's a block in between 2 gears in a cylinder and then there's two more gears inside that same cylinder. We removed all metal and oil and refilled with new oil and put on a new gasket. Obviously the clunking continued as the right wheel's gears that are inside that cylinder are rounded off about 30%. When taking off, or around a turn, it really clunky and bangs like it's trying to grab that one side. There was a block inside that cylinder in between the two gears. Can I remove that block and prevent the continuous clunking?
