2006 Yukon xl with zw7 suspension

ZW7 also calls for particular jounce bump stops in the rear. Usually overlooked these days. The Hummer H2s and Escalades still call them out correctly and have them listed. You'll notice that they're longer than the regular ones. Rock Auto got them to me easy enough and for the right price. Dealers want way too much for them. I have them with GM replacement Nivomats and GM replacement HD/Z71 type springs. Seems to work well enough. As close as original as I can get it for the back. Might be a tad bit high when unloaded but doesn't dance around and the slightly more than factory rake is what I prefer anyway.

I did not know this. Thanks for the information. I found a set on Amazon referencing the GM part #15270578
For my 04 Yukon XL SLT w/ ZW7 and Nivomats it calls for GM part 15115208, same as the Escalades and H2s. Look for made in US stock. World Parts Direct or Rock Auto will have them.

ZW7 & Nivomats here also, but in an '04 Tahoe. I saw #15115208 on Rock Auto with identical diameters and a slightly different (more robust) profile from #15270578. That price difference is substantial. :oops: Should I ever need to replace these, your recommendation looks like a firmer upgrade. Thanks again.

These are the larger rear jounce bumpers found on Escalades/Hummer H2s and Yukons w/ ZW7 smooooth ride. The one in the middle is what was installed by Palmdale CA GMC back around 75k / 90k service or something. The little guy on the right is supposed to be for the front end. Amazon shipped me the fronts. I think they’re both made in USA (original GM spec). Im going to give them a try.

The other ones (replacement existing from a service at some point) don't seem to do anything with new Nivomats and the only spring choice left from GM, the HD / Z71 type replacements. GM used to spec several different springs for the rear on these vehicles. I always thought it was more about selling different "ride" versions to buyers than anything else. The Sachs Nivomat design is good and was new for GM, but the right springs and jounce bumpers must be part of the set up. This is somewhat important when carrying weight in the load bed. The Nivomats do their own thing to level out by compressing oil in two champers, or something like that. Having the longer bump stops out back may improve things. Plus I'm going to a tire with a 116 load index, all 4 corners. Michelin Defender LTX 265/65 R18. I want to maintain the feel of the Nivomats. And was not convinced going to a slightly taller coil spring was the thing to do. I'll report back my findings.
