2006 YXLD low volts?

certain time the voltmeter will read (what I believe to be) 12.5-13 volts based on the gauge. it was like this with front and rear fan blowing, radio on, and fog lights. i turned everything off, and there was no change even driving with rpms at 2k.

later on the same drive, with everything turned back on, the voltmeter did raise to 14 volts... and then dropped back to 12.5-13.

what is causing it to dip low and is that a concern with no electrical load and hi rpms??

Start by checking your alternator with a voltmeter and making sure it's giving 14 volts.
May also check for loose and dirty connections.
