Hey everyone! New to the whole forum thing, but I did a 6.0 swap into my 2007 Tahoe and now I have a couple problems I was hoping someone could help with. I had the 5.3 LMG engine with 4L60e Transmission and 4x4 transfer case. I put in the 6.0 LY6 with 6L90e transmission and transfer case out of a 2009 Suburban 2500. When I did the swap, I got the wiring harness and ECM from the suburban, so they went in as well.

Here are my problems:

This one is more of a question. I used the old oxygen sensors when I did the swap. I had to re-wire them with the correct plugs which came with the engine I purchased. Is there a problem with this? Will it throw off the oxygen readings?

P0315 DTC code (crankshaft sensor learn error) - I've been told that the only thing that needs to be done is the truck has to be put on a scan tool and they can do the re-learn thing. Is this true, or is it something I can do at home?

P2068 DTC code for fuel circuit B low or something like that (also, the fuel gauge reads zero always. Is the wiring different for the fuel level sensor or is there something I would need to change to get this to work?

Service 4wd, service Traction control, Service Stabilitrak warning lights and check engine light is on. I have read and tried several things with this, but I'm not really sure where to go now. The 4wd originally would not work correctly (got stuck in 4-lo). I had to take the transfer case motor off to get it back to 2-hi. Now I'm afraid to shift it back to 4wd.

The engine runs good. I did change all fluids and the mass air flow sensor. I seem to be getting terrible gas mileage (5-8 mpg) and it seems the engine wants to slow the car down a lot (like it won't just cruise). Could this be just high transmission shift points? It feels like when you are pulling a trailer down hill and engine braking, only it is all the time. Not sure if this has to do with the other problems above, but maybe?

Sorry for the long post, but any help is appreciated.

You may need to reprogram/ flash the ecu and tans do that they learn each other and work in sync. A good person to ask about this world be Justin from black bear performance. Give him a shout

@JennaBear

Care to explain your reasoning of why I can't run the 2009 computer?

2009 computers are meant to talk to all the rest of the 2009 systems, and not the 2007 systems. This is part of why you are getting codes. Your computers absolutely need to be tuned for your new set up.

Should I have someone like Black Bear do the tune? Or is it something that I need to have the dealer look at? What would the advantages be to the dealer vs. another service center?

I sent an email to Black Bear Performance so we'll see how soon they get back to me and what they say. Thanks for the info.

Yes, we can tune it for you. Some dealerships may be able to tune it for you, we have quite a few dealerships that refer folks to us, so they are just the middle men.

So part of the problem was the clutch fan that came with the engine I purchased. It was defective. Took it off and there is a big improvement already. Still seems like the shift points are a little high for a daily driver.

I was wondering though, would getting it tuned fix the problems with the serivce 4wd, stabilitrak, traction control? If it is like you say, and I do the tune, then most if not all of my issues would be resolved, correct?

Also wondering about the O2 sensors. Seems like they are working just fine the way that I wired them, but I'm wondering if the output from the old sensors (from the 5.3 AFM engine) would be different than the output for the sensors that are spec'd out for the 6.0 engine? Seems to me that the O2 sensors would read the same percentages of oxygen regardless of what engine is running, but the scaled output of the sensors that the computer reads could be different between the different engines?

So I've confirmed that the ECM needs to be programmed. I put the old ECM back in and there are no error codes. The new ECM still pulls codes, so I'm sure it just needs to be programmed. Tahoe drives pretty well now without the broken fan clutch. I'm not sure the electric fans are even programmed in the new ECM though. Going to talk with the local dealership today to see what they can/will do. If not, then I'll have to find someone else to program it for me.

You will still have lights on the cluster, mostly because you did not use your stock transfer case.
