Hey peeps.. This is my first post so bear with me. Before I get into my trans issue, I'll give you a little background info. I have a 2007 Yukon SLT 5.3 with approximately 153,000 miles (mostly highway.) At bout 99,500 miles, dealer rebuilt the upper portion of my engine under warranty. I had a crazy amount of misfires from #2 & #7. This caused my valves to stick i guess. More recently, I'm getting misfires in my #3. I honestly believe AFM is to blame.
Anyway, Last week I was on the freeway and my RPM's went through the roof.. It was like I was accelerating in neutral. After slowing down, it kicked into 3rd. Turns out I lost 2nd & 4th. Rev, 1st, and 3rd still worked. My buddy recommended a tranny shop and the guy took it apart. He showed me where my #2 band snapped in half.
I upgraded to a wider band, along with several other parts that were worn. He included a master rebuild kit, transgo shift kit, 9 pack clutch instead of the 5, beast, and couple other things that I can't think of at the moment.
My final price out the door is almost $2500..
Does this sound right? I trust that he will do s good job, but just wondering if the cost is usually that high?
