In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

Even if its true I would no way modify it to do that, it engages pretty hard at 10-15mph wheel speed much less 25mph wheel speed.
anything higher with the mod as I never heard of your going to leave parts behind inside the diff.
I usually try to have it at about around 5-10 mph till it engages.

Can't afford anything better at the moment, so I guess I'll have to go lookin for answers ...

There is a mechanical limited slip (G86) and an electronic limited slip (G96). So, the G80 apparently is the code for the locking limited slip used in solid axles. I stand corrected!

I'm crossing fingers that we get a reasonably priced aftermarket solution because the oem e-lsd is a pricy piece before install.
