Regular maintenance and repairs are par for the course with older vehicles. A new SLT, not even a 2500, is about $80K. I think such a car payment would be around a grand a month. At least with the older truck, I can decide when and how much to spend on it.

Tell us the whole story OP.

You bought a used vehicle and have been having a lot of issues? You can't replace radiator lines yourself? There are just spring clamps at each end! You just need pliers to replace them. Drain the coolant and replace it...but I get you may not have time or desire to mess with it.

Any older vehicle will have this as maintenance, the older the worse. At least you won't have to deal with the infamous intake manifold gaskets, injectors and distributers on your 2007. LOL

Most folks that drive the older rigs don't mind working on them and getting their hands dirty, some actually enjoy it. Starters, alternators, HOSES, belts, brakes, suspension, etc. It's all maintenance. Some just don't have the money for a brand new truck with a warranty. Or don't want to. Which one are you?

If you live in or the vehicle lived in a salt on roads state, you will have needs. If you don't inspect thoroughly, you will have needs. If you don't get history paperwork, you will have needs.

Well you asked for it..............LOL

BTW, I was forced to retire early because of a back injury at the shop I was part owner of and the state would not allow me to do my job on the drugs I was given. I have more bad days than good but keep as active as possible but restricted to what I can and can't do anymore.
I blame NO ONE for the problems with this truck but ME and sure get ALOT of people wanting to buy it. 2500's are a thing of the past.

I'm in a similar situation. Thankfully, my daughter's boyfriend is an ASE Certified mechanic and is willing to help me on most of the repairs and maintenance. I got impatient and tried to replace the Evap canister myself. That resulted in 5 days in the hospital again. We feel your pain.
