I got the gunmetal one too. The chrome one is just a publicity shot.

Yes, there is something you should watch out for during the install.
Best if I show you a picture.

I will take one tomorrow morning and post it here and explain it that way.

Awesome...thanks, I'll keep an eye out for the photo. Yeah, the chrome just looked it a little too flashy for me. I ended up paying $236 shipped for it. Just an FYI, Autoanything is having a 15% off sale. Use the promocode welcome15. I also have another promocode. Orders over $150 use PUMP15 for $15 off, orders over $199 use PUMP25 for $25 off, and orders over $299 use PUMP45 for $45 off. You can use both and get it pretty cheap. I can't remember what the retail was. I think something over $300.

I ordered my unit from CarID.com.

The unit I received had the actual gunmetal pipe slightly too long and I had to trim the pipe.

In either case, I would recommend that you proceed with the install as follows:

IMG_1707.jpg

Start by installing the base/frame/box of the system onto the car, labelled 1 in the picture above.

The said base/frame/box contains a circular opening where you see the pipe and filter connect. This opening has a rubber seal that that fits along its inner circumference supplied with the kit. Install the seal now. Grease the seal along its edges after you install as it will be a very tight fit in the steps below and the grease will help.
Install the filter, labelled 2 in the picture above, into the box making sure that that the stopper edge of the filter is sitting completely flush and tight along the inner box circular opening (as per the image below).

Next, connect the pipe to the filter as per the first picture along area labeled 3, also making sure that the pipe's stopper is completely flush and tight against the outer side of the box, as per the picture below.

Finally connect the other end of the pipe to the throttle body as per area labelled 4 in the first picture.

The connected areas along the box should be sitting nice and tight along the box like so:

If, like me, you receive an incorrect pipe length, then depending on where you start the install, you will either end up with the pipe mis-aligned against the throttle body, or the pipe will go completely through the circular opening of the box (i.e. the pipe stopper will end up inside the box and not sitting flush on the outer edge of the box), thereby effectively turning you Cold Air Intake system into a Hot Air Intake system as all the hot air emanating from the engine bay will be sucked into the system from the resulting gap along the circular opening of the box.
The remedy, in such a case is either to return the unit because you were shipped the wrong one, or to trim the pipe down to the correct size, which is what I did.

Good luck with your install. :)

PS: Don't forget to plug in your sensor cable!

Thanks for the install directions, especially with the pics. I'm hoping to get it by Friday so I can install this weekend. I will definitely be using your directions. I'll let you know how it goes. Appreciate it!

Oh, almost forgot to ask, what did you use to trim the pipe? Hopefully mine will fit.

You're very welcome. Do lemme know how it goes.
I used a plain hand steel saw, then polished it a bit. Easy.

BTW, you will love it once installed and you will love the growl of your engine!

Very soon!
I sent the data logs along with the OE ECM and TCM tunes to Justin@BBP today.
Waiting on him to do his magic and then I'll take video/sound clips and post 'em. :)
