$4700 for basically a better riding leveling kit?, well over $5k after adding in the necessary steering component upgrades to help with the angles...

No thanks, I'll stick with the cognito 4-6", keep my angles flat for half the price.

Edit : AND get the lift height I want. Not spending twice the price to only get 2-3".

Hello all, new owner wanting to try and fit about 295s on this Yukon. The wheels are hidious and so are the tires. I plan on getting a completely new set but wondering what I should be looking in the form of a lift. I would like to stay away from trimming the fenders if at all possible. I went to a local shop and he said I could get a 6" lift. This is a daily driver for the wife and can't see her driving and trying to park this beast with 6" lift in the school parking lot. We just want some height so that when we go play in the snow or the beach we don't have to worry too much about getting stuck or clearance. Any ideas? I also keep reading about leveling. By looking at this picture is she level?

You got your wife to daily a Yukon XL 2500? Props.

Your Yukon is not currently leveled, the slope of the driveway just makes it look that way in the picture that you posted.

Saying that you want a "295" tire to clear is pretty meaningless without more information. To have the best chance of giving you a useful answer we need to also know the wheel diameter that you are going with and the aspect ratio for the sidewall. (The second number in a metric tire size.) That 295 only tells us that you want a tire that has a tread width of about 11.5", but depending on wheel size and the aspect ratio that could be a 30" tire or a 34" tire. For example a 295/60/16 is essentially a 30x11.5x16 and that should fit with no mods, but might requiring spacers to keep you from rubbing at full steering lock. Changing only the wheel to say an 18 for a 295/60/18 bumps you to essentially a 32x11.5. Now you need to at least level it, and probably lift it for your tires to fit.

Once you figure out which wheel, and in which size, that you are going to use, figure out how tall you want your tire. Once you have that info, people can better answer your question about lift. Also, you will now have a better idea if that local shop is trying to help you out or just bend you over.

A better way to approach this is to figure out how much, if any, lift that you and your wife want. Then figure out your wheel choice and size your tire appropriately for your lift and wheel size.

Finally, the lift/leveling kits for the GMT900 2500 trucks will fit your Yukon. Depending on the kit that you decide to go with, your towing capacity may change with a lift kit. A good shop will sit down with you and help you figure out what you are wanting and find a solution to get you there. A typical shop will tell you to come back when you know what you want.
