I have a 2009 avalanche (dod/non-vvt) with a 6l80 that I will be looking to swap in a 2011 L94 and 6l80 trans.
I know the TCM will not talk with my current 09 ECM but can I use the computer from the 2011 and reprogram it to my vin? I will be doing a cam swap removing dod and vvt from the 6.2 but I want to ensure I won’t have issues with the trans. Current driveline has 221k miles and the 2011 has 110k thus the reason to also swap the trans also.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. Sounds like a cool swap. Someone more versed than me will chime in with help.

I've a '09 avalanche (dod/non-vvt) with a 6L80 that I'll be looking to swap in a '11 L94 & 6L80.

I'll be doing a cam swap deleting dod and vvt from the 6.2L, but I want to ensure I won’t have issues with the trans.
You should have no issues using the '11 ecm & tcm.
Besides just changing the VIN, that'd be a GREAT time for an ecm & tcm tune.
Don't know if the Body Control Module, or some other module, will need to be updated to 2011.

Similar situation. I own a 2011 Chevy Avalanche with a 5.3l\6l80 (LMG) and a donor engine & ECM from a 2013 GMC Yukon that is a 6.2l (L9H). Does anybody know if the 2011 5.3l wiring harness will work on the 6.2l or will I need a new harness?

Shouldn't be any difference. Both engines have AFM and VVT and the injectors use the same connectors.

You could go to GMPartsGiant, plug in both VINs or configurations and look up the harness part number to be sure. Same for GMPartsDirect.

I do see two different part numbers for each vin…pictures look the same and the sensor positions\locations appear to be the same…

I can only imagine that there may be some connectors with different length wiring as improvements or because of the taller injectors and rail over the older versions. However, we have seen plenty of posts of people using their original harness on all manner of donor engines.

The 2013 Yukon (Denali) will have the L94 engine with AFM. The only year the L9H was used in the Yukon/Yukon XL and Escalades was 2009. The 2009-2013 Silverado and Sierra pickups used the L9H exclusively.

The difference between the two being larger injectors and no AFM with a slightly larger camshaft grind for the L9H. It is easy to convert an L94 to L9H by deleting AFM of course.

Should have clarified, I swapped the L94 into my 2009 GMC Yukon and am now rebuilding the L9H block to use for this project. Will be using the 2013 ECM and Intake. Kind of a Frankenstein engine:)
