Hello,

As the title states I'm trying to figure out how to get music to come over the speakers when the kids are watching a movie in the back with headphones on.

Everytime I click audio the movie stops and only the music plays. What button combo is required to keep the movie going?

You don't need to press audio. Just play the movie and turn on the rear tv. The sound automatically plays through the headphones.
Put on the headphones to test it out. This is how my 2011 works.

How about getting it so I can still listen to music while driving?

So, let me try to understand your situation. Your listening to the radio and you pop in a DVD. The entire system plays the DVD audio. Then you press the audio button on the right side and the DVD stops playing on the rear monitor?

You got it!

After reading through the manual again the dvd player should always put audio to the headphones. I should be able to change my audio source to say XM or FM and listen separately.

Using an AUX source for audio and playing a DVD at the same time really didn't make sense so I'll worry about getting DVD and XM working first.

Try this, after you press audio the screen should then show you some options. One should be under the audio tab labeled "rear". After you press that does the rear monitor start playing the DVD again? If so, the sound should be coming from the headphones only.

Mine only stops playing the video on the front monitor when i use the audio button. The rear screen never stops playing and it's audio is going through the headphones.
Hopefully someone else will chime in soon to help you out.
One last ditch effort, are the headphones linked up to the vehicle?

The headphones are the I/R headphones. A couple GM sets as well as some off brand ones that were ordered as replacements. They just worked after putting in batteries.

Thank you. I could not figure out how to make this work. These steps solved the problem. Now I can listen to my stations, while the kids can watch Frozen.
