Good morning - first post - thanks for the opportunity...

Went to dinner last night and when I started the wife's suburban up to leave the a/c wouldnt cool. Worked fine on the way up and has always blown really cold air both front and rear.

I did notice that the compressor was not kicking in...the 'burb has about 85,000 trouble free miles on it.

It's pretty hot here and I am pretty sure the wife will want me to fix her a/c

Any thoughts?

For those of you who might take a look at this post here is a little more info that makes it all more strange for me...

I started up the 'burb this morning and the a/c is working just fine...ugh!!

It is 77 degrees here right now and the air blowing through the vents is right at 52 degrees.

Wonder what happened that the compressor wouldnt kick on last night?

My Esky had this issue last year where it was blowing hot air. It turned out to be the compressor. Maybe yours is going out?

felixgun - did yours go out over a period of time or instantly? A buddy of mine mentioned compressor failure as a possible culprit this morning as well.

Yes it was intermittent at first then eventually just quit working. I remember it being really hot one day and it wasn't cooling at all and I immediately drove to the dealership to find out what it was and sure enough compressor fully went out.

Just had the air-con fixed on my 2007 Yukon.

My service guys did a great job of first finding and then fixing my air-con system. The first (and most likely) refrigerant leak was due to a tiny pin-hole leak in the front evaporator located in the dash. This is a ***** to get at and involves removing most of the dash. This was due to how GM attaches the evaporator using non-removable plastic tabs... one of the tabs was touching the corner of the evaporator and over the years, it wore through the aluminum. The second leak was due to corrosion in the refrigerant hose/fitting where they connect to the rear evaporator. Both leaks will lead to a low-refrigerant pressure situation which prevents the system from turning on. Unfortunately, either one of these repairs will be relatively pricey. Hope this helps.
