Hey Everyone! Short background, every since I was a bagger at a supermarket store driving my 2001 Z78 Camaro, I always dreamed of having a Z71 Silverado. Like ALL THE TIME! Well, now that I'm an adult I bought a 2009 Tahoe about 4 years ago and am in LOVE with her. Almost at 200K and never had an issue.

Anyways, my garage in our house is super small. I get about 4 inches clearance on each side when parking the hoe, so power folding mirrors are a must. The motor has finally given out on the driver side (and I've replaced the passenger side twice). But I bought one without the auto-dimming feature because I cannot find it anywhere online. I'd happily pay $300 + if I could find one with Auto-dimming, so if anyone has a link please send.

I bought a replacement from 1A auto with everything but auto-dim, thinking I could just replace the glass from my old one to the new one. I checked out the wiring and they don't match. So even if I did replace the glass I'm assuming the auto-dim won't work.

Am I correct in assuming this? If so, how would I go about making my situation work? I know enough from doing car audio installs when I was younger to be able to pull something off. But I don't wanna start tearing into and breaking apart a $180 mirror until I know it's possible.

Thanks!

just replace the broken gear in your original mirror and send that other one back to 1a for a refund, the gear cost a few bucks on ebay or you could get a gear or complete rebuilt motor from gruvenparts, there are some good videos on how to do the swap it's not hard might take you a couple hours total with some basic tools.
