2009 Tahoe won’t start

It’s the same old battery cable disconnected, replaced and now won’t start. But there’s a twist.. I have a 2009 LTZ and replaced the ground cable years ago and have been living happily ever after. Then had to add an additional ground to the firewall… happy again. Recently started showing low oil pressure so I cleaned all the ground contacts and pressure on the gauge increased. I just replaced the positive cable and it won’t start. Typical all gauges and lights work but won’t turn over. Nothing, no clicking, battery is good, alternator is good. But now, when I turn the key to the on/start position the gas gauge doesn’t move and the voltage meter goes to 19, pauses and returns to zero. Double checked and cleaned my connections. Lost.

Try to bypass with jumper cables. Start with ground to block and then positive to starter. Or if you have a clamp type meter to check the Amps that are being drawn.

try putting the old battery cable back on, see if the problem goes away. that's step one

How is the mega fuse?

Look up on Youtube how to perform a voltage drop test as that can shed a lot of light on what is going on, remember: voltage does not equal current. A battery can have the correct voltage but not have enough current to even activate the starter solenoid.

Still can’t determine a cause. Anyone know someone good with auto electronics around Cartersville, Georgia?

I liked put it back how it was for step 1.

Are any of the wires warm?

Battery should be removed, slow charged & taken to store to be load tested for bad cell. Extreme weather and new battery activity may have been its death blow
