197,000 as of this week..

I know a lot of people have issues with their tranny's before 200k.. and I've never had a problem with mine...

But now.. it seems like the motor turns alittle higher when it's cruising in 4th and I give it a little gas... Seems like it might be slipping a bit.

I asked pops, and he mentioned and then explained how the torque converter probably is the culprit.

When I get back to VA, I think i'm gonna have the 100,000 mile service done.. but just didn't want to throw down that kind of cash right before xmas..

Could use some advice on the tranny.. and anything else I should look out for after 200k

I am right about 200k. I feel the same you do a little. I just drove over 2500 miles last wk and she didn't skip a beat though. That was round trip and only resting maybe 5-6 hours in between. It does need an oil change and I was going to wait till Jan to upgrade all kinds of stuff rather then just replace with factory parts.

How does the fluid smell when you pull the dipstick for the trans? Mine still smells like good fluid and not that burnt smell. Whats all included on a 100k service?

I would just go a inspection at the gm dealer. I usually take mine in for complete inspections at GM and at Firestone and come home and do the work that needs to be done.

I do notice the trans is "iffy" when having fun around town. SO was my vet trans until after bolt ons, tune, and a fast intake. She shifted like new then. So I was hoping it just the 4l60s nature. A tune really helps them to me and the vette servo.

My fluid is great... good color and no burn smell..

The 100k service is a full flush of tranny and torque converter and replace fluid.. also probably get new plugs, new filters.. new pcv valve...

differential and transfer case probably get a once over..

The main thing I notice on my tranny is that it seems to use more RPM in 4th gear when you just slightly give it gas to pass someone. Maybe I'm just hearing/feeling things.. It hasn't searched for 3rd or anything

When I pass I usually put enough foot in it to downshift, after the service I would get a BB tune. You will be surprised how well your trans will feel after the tune.

Yeah you could save for a crapped out trans too lol
